Chardham Yatra Chalo
Char Dham, meaning the four sacred sites – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri – are the most revered pilgrimage centers in Uttarakhand. As per Hindu belief, visiting these holy shrines cleanses past sins and grants liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Every year, millions of devotees from across the globe embark on this spiritual journey.
The Char Dham concept was introduced in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya, who identified Badrinath, Jagannath Puri, Dwarka, and Rameshwaram as the four sacred Dhams. Over time, Uttarakhand’s shrines became famous as the “Chota Char Dham,” later known simply as Char Dham, due to their immense significance and better accessibility.
The Yatra begins at Haridwar and proceeds to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath. Nestled in the majestic Himalayas, these shrines not only offer divine blessings but also mesmerizing natural beauty.
